Crumbing Activity Bring a tray including a dustpan and brush to the table. Invite the child to help scatter scraps of paper onto the work space. Demonstrate how to use the dustpan. Hold the dustpan with the subdominant hand with the edge held against the edge of the table. Using the dominant hand to hold the brush, sweep the scraps carefully into the dustpan. Place the brush on the table. Carefully carry the full dustpan to the trash and dump the litter. Allow the child to repeat the steps. Provide verbal cues and assistance if needed. Return the dustpan and brush to the tray. Place tray back on shelf. The goal of this activity is to develop concentration, coordination, and independence.
